Free Online Printable Drum Sheet Music – Van Halen?

Hi guys,

I can guarantee you won’t find free drum charts for Van Halen. But with google I did find drum tabs here: http://www.thetabworld.com/Van_Halen_drum_tabs.html

I suggest learning to read the tabs. While they are less convenient than charts for drums, they are still easy to learn. Basically the dashes are sixteenth notes, and the o’s or x’s are where they are played. x’s are usually cymbals and o’s are drums. There may be things like f’s for flams and d’s for drags. Capital letters are accented. And the letters at the beginning of the line stand for the drum cymbal.

For example:

HH|x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-|

This notates a measure in 4/4 with hihat playing eight notes. S stands for snare, B for bass drum, CC is usually the acronym for crash cymbal, RC for ride cymbal, and the toms will be things like T and t for large and small toms, and FT for floor toms. Sometimes CC could be china cymbal and C could be crash, or vice versa. In these cases, the tab should explain. Tabs are very easy to read, but drum tabs can be hard to find.

Or, you could simply train your ear and transcribe the songs you want. It is much easier to transcribe drums than other instruments, although some advanced songs can have some tricky rhythms.
