What are some good beginner’s fiddle tunes?

I’ve just started to learn to play the violin, and part of my class is to learn a piece of music and play is in front of the class. I would much rather learn a country song than a classical piece, but don’t know of any fun country songs that are beginner friendly (The devil went down to Georgia is a bit much for a first timer no?) Does any one have any suggestions?

Also, if anyone knows where to find good fiddle sheet music for these songs! I’m not scamming for free downloads, but most good sheet music for sale is for the guitar or piano. I’m having trouble finding some for the fiddle.
That’s great! But do anyone know any good sing along country songs with fiddle? Like Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley etc? The only ones I know are really hard :)

I don’t know any “beginner” fiddle tunes, either. Most of the fiddle tunes (and I’m talking about specifically played on the fiddle, e.g., “Orange Blossom Special”) were written by (and designed to be played by) professionals.

I would suggest “The Eighth of January,” however, because it’s a fairly easy melody.

While this sounds very fast and speedy, the basis of this melody became the tune for Johnny Horton’s biggest hit, “The Battle of New Orleans.” So listen to the Horton song and you’ll have the basics of “The Eighth of January” down.
